JUNIOR players from around the region have flocked to Gunnedah for the Gunnedah Junior Rugby Club's annual gala day.

More than 30 teams converged on Gunnedah to compete in the under-six, eight, 10 and 12 competitions.
Each club within Central North entered at least one team, with each team starring during the six hours of competition.

Red Devils' committee member Dee McCumstie said "it was a massive day" for the club.
"It was great to see so many kids come from all over Central North play some rugby," McCumstie said.
"Our club hosted the first gala day after the school holidays, so I think everyone was really keen to play some rugby and they turned out in force."
McCumstie said the club's competitors impressed during the competition.
"Our kids played some great rugby and have really improved throughout the course of the season," she said.

The event acted as part of the Gunnedah Junior Rugby Club's 40th anniversary celebrations.
"We have had a fantastic anniversary year," McCumstie said.
"Our numbers are growing every year, hopefully that will continue and we can be around for another 40 years."
