The 30-year-old woman is alleged to have stabbed the man, aged 30, after a confrontation in Oxley Vale on Wednesday night.
Ambulance NSW deployed four paramedic units to Drummond Road at 10.55pm and found a man with a single stab wound to the lower abdomen.
He was rushed to Tamworth hospital, where he remains, in a stable condition.
Police and detectives set up a crime scene at the Drummond Road home, which was combed by forensic officers.

Following investigations, the 30-year-old woman handed herself into police early on Thursday where she was arrested.
She was questioned by detectives and charged with malicious wounding and granted conditional bail.
She has been ordered to front Tamworth Local Court at a later date.
Police claim they have seized the weapon used in the stabbing.
Officers also allege the parties are known to one another, and it was not a random incident.
