WAYNE Painter had a brush with lady luck winning a brand new car at the Fitzroy Street Christmas tree lighting.
The car was given away as part of a Tamworth Business Chamber promotion driving people to shop local in the lead up to Christmas.
The promotion put shoppers into the draw to win a new Honda Jazz if they spent $30 in participating stores.

Chamber president Jye Segboer said more than 100 businesses were involved in the “think local, support local” campaign.
He said the campaign injected, at least, $1 million into the Tamworth economy with 5000 entrants spending an average of $200 on shopping trips in the region.
Tamworth Regional Council sponsored the campaign, pledging $15,000 to help purchase the car for the giveaway.
While Mr Painter’s odds of winning the vehicle were as good as the other eight finalists, it quickly became apparent he was in for an evening to remember.
Eight finalists tried their key on the car to no avail, leaving suspense at a high and Mr Painter the lucky last entrant solely in the picture to win.
Despite the warm weather on Thursday evening, hundreds of people made their way to Fitzroy Street early for the Christmas tree lighting event to see the business chamber giveaway.
