The Tamworth Branch of the Ulysses club is proud to once again hold its annual toy run.
The toy run has been part of the community for 20 years and is a way motorcycle riders assist the Salvation Army in obtaining toys for those in need.
This year the focus will be on the drought and as such we are part of the R U Aware, We Care drought appeal.
The drought has affected farmers and communities and especially the children in the communities.
The drought has affected farmers and communities and especially the children in the communities.
Saturday December 1 will see motorcyclists gather at the Salvation Army hall on Goonoo Goonoo Road from 8am for a bacon and egg sandwich before donations will be presented to the Salvation Army for distribution between Barraba and other rural communities.
The focus for this year’s event is for the children between 8 and 15. While all new gifts will be accepted the middle age group are at most need.
Gift cards in small denominations or personal items for boys’ and girls’ such as gifts packs, wallets, beach towels, books, deodorants etc.
Gift cards of any size (prefer multiple small size rather than 1 large size i.e. numerous $10 cards instead of $100 card).
At approximately 9am the riders will depart and travel to Barraba via Appleby Lane though Manilla about 9:45am to Barraba RSL about 10:30am.
A sausage sizzle will be available at Barraba.
Upon arrival at Barraba riders and friends will then deposit any remaining gifts.
Members of the Tamworth Ulysses and several other riders will then be available for small ride around Barraba. It is advised that children wishing to ride will need a parent in attendance before getting on the bike and must wear a helmet ( the Tamworth Ulysses has a couple of spare helmets), however, it is better if children bring their own to avoid disappointment due to not having a helmet that fits them.
Rides will be available between 10.30am and noon only.
We invite fellow motorcyclists to join for a great ride and a cause that assists the smaller communities.
