There are few things more relaxing in life than a nice bush walk.
One of those things might be a massage, and this Saturday you can do both, and all while helping fund the lifesaving Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
The unique Massage on the Mountain event is the brainchild of The Massage Escape Heidi Burchell, who knows all too well the importance of the Westpac Chopper service.
“A few years ago I had twin boys prematurely and was flown to John Hunter Hospital – this is just my way to give back and support a really good and important service,” she said.
“I was having a wine or two with some other massage therapists and we thought that it is something completely different in a really popular and iconic location.
“It should be a great day out with a really fun and relaxed atmosphere.”

On the day entrants will register at the Oxley Lookout, before ascending to the peak of Flagstaff Mountain, where 15 minute massages will be on offer from four local therapists, including Heidi, for just $10, while there will also be a group yoga session, a hydration station, and bacon and egg rolls.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter events coordinator Jeff Galbraith said “the absolutely unique idea reinforces the exact things the service is passionate about – health and wellbeing.”
“It also highlights the incredible support we get out of the local community,” he said.
“We are flying over 2000 missions a year in northern NSW.”
Registrations are $5, and open from 7.30am until 11am, with the yoga session at 8.30am.
