Her name album Ricochet, will be released on Friday, January 19, with the title track off the album reaching No.1 on the Australian charts.
She has also recently signed to US label Mountain Fever Records & Country Rocks Records for Australia and was assisted by Grammy award winner and bluegrass legend Jerry Salley.
“Jerry and I sat down and we wanted to try and record an album that would be better than the last one - but it had pretty big shoes to fill,” she said.
“The last album was a really personal album and was recorded during a time in my life that I wasn’t sure what I was doing.
“I have really grown as an artist and a person and I wanted to put that into this next project. I wanted to show my fans back home in Australia what living in America is like and how it has changed me as a person. I think we have accomplished that with Ricochet.”
Cox says the album is very much bluegrass but there are some country influences thrown into the mix.
She has a few big gigs lined up in Tamworth for the 2018 Festival and said she is excited about “Bluegrass Comes to Tamworth” at the Capitol Theatre on Australia Day.
She’s also sharing a special moment with husband Travis List with “Great Country Love Songs” at the Tamworth Capitol Theatre on Monday, January 22.
“Last year we thought we’d give it a go because we wanted to sing those songs together - we don’t get to do it very often,” she said.
“It was well received. I’m really looking forward to that one as well.”
“Tamworth is kind of my family, I feel everyone there is my family and I’m not going back to Adelaide this time around, I’ll only be in Tamworth.
“I have family coming from South Australia to see me.
“Come and say g’day and come to a show, I miss everyone and I miss speaking to everyone in an Australian accent.”
