But Tamworth captain Chris Crowell said the side learned a lot from the experience, which should hold them in good stead at next year’s tournament.
Port Jackson Red won the final against Mid North Coast on Thursday.
“We were competitive in every game,” Crowell said.
“Just our bowling and fielding let us down a bit.”
Tamworth opened the championship with a comfortable win over Penrith, but that was as good as it got for them.
Crowell highlighted Tamworth’s loss to Sydney Port Jackson as the most disappointing defeat, given Tamworth got off to a flyer batting first.
“We should have won the game against Sydney Port Jackson … the first three batsmen scored 40 and we just fell away after that,” he said.
