The Gunnedah youngster has just returned from winning Champion Junior Soft Feather at the Barraba Show, with her Chinese Silkie, named Rainbow, and now has the Sydney Royal in her sights.
Felicity began showing chooks at Gunnedah Show last year and her mum Janice said her confidence has grown since. She exhibits three Chinese Silkies named Rainbow, Elsa and Anna.
Show preparation involves washing all entries and handling the fowls to ensure they are quiet for judging.
“Felicity normally sits on the lawn checking feathers, eyes and ensuring the feet are clean. She also hand feeds them fruit as a treat,” Janice said.
She comes from a line of enthusiasts, with dad Chris showing poultry for 30 years and mum Janice also in the game.
The family are now gearing up for a line-up of shows, with Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrabri, Quirindi and Sydney Royal on the list.
