L2 is a literacy intervention strategy designed to assist students who are having difficulties with reading and writing.
This intervention, along with other programs that are implemented as part of the Early Action for Success initiative, is making a significant impact on learning across our K-2 classes.
Congratulations, Mrs Penman and Mrs Holding, and thank you to Mrs Shaw, our instructional leader, who supports our staff with these initiatives.
This year’s 2015 Premier’s Reading Challenge saw 113 Westdale Public School students take part in the event.
This is the largest number of students we have ever had.
Reading is alive and well. Fantastic work.
Students of the Week from Westdale’s 2M class are Emily Hearn and Lucas Finn.
Emily is a kind and valued member of 2M.
She enjoys learning and is always keen to lend a hand, represents her school with pride and always sets a good example for her peers.
She is friendly, fun and enthusiastic.
It is these qualities that make Emily such a special member of 2M. Well done, Emily.
Lucas is a likeable young man with a caring nature.
He strives to achieve his best at all times and enjoys learning new things. Lucas adds a spark to our classroom and is always contributing great ideas.
He should be proud of his dedication to tasks and his willingness to have a go. Keep up the great work, Lucas.
A big congratulation goes to Rachel Barnes, who will represent Westdale Public School and the North West PSSA at the NSWPSSA Athletics Carnival at Homebush in October.
Rachel will be competing in the junior girls’ shot put and we wish her the best of luck.
