While some snappers caught a sleepy visitor off guard, others captured all the fun and colour of Peel St, while others ventured out to the ABCRA rodeo finals with a bucking bull in focus.
With entries now closed, it’s up to the three judges to decide and they’re already casting an experienced eye over the 100 top entries.
The Leader chief photographer Barry Smith is sharing the vote with country music photographer John Elliott, and just for a twist, we’ve got country music star Aleyce Simmonds casting her vote as well.
Generally the one setting the style in front of the cameras, Aleyce said she was looking forward to checking out the entries and says for her, a great image combines a number of elements.
“It’s the setting, the expression and also the emotion displayed,” Aleyce said.
While a lover of portrait-style photography, Aleyce said she was also a fan of candid snaps and believed they fit the atmosphere of the festival.
Entries came from far and wide, reflecting the variety of visitors the festival attracts each year.
The top images will be published in The Northern Daily Leader on Saturday, February 9.
Winners will be announced on Friday, February 8.
