After most locals tuned into last year's service online, Remembrance Day will be held at Bicentennial Park on Thursday, to accommodate a bigger crowd. But with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected, Tamworth Returned and Services League (RSL) President Jayne McCarthy said the event would be weather dependent.
"If the rain's torrential we'll just cancel it on the day, but of course we're going to try not to," Ms McCarthy said.
With only small numbers allowed at Anzac Day services earlier in the year and COVID vaccination restrictions causing headaches for selling poppies at shopping centres, Ms McCarthy said it would be great to welcome back more veterans, service people and community members.
"It's been a rough couple of years for lots of community organisations," she said.

Although Ms McCarthy said she was keen to see larger crowds this year, she said organisers were still incredibly mindful of the potential risks of COVID transmission.
To minimise this risk Ms McCarthy said only specific student representatives from the local schools would be present and all attendees must be fully vaccinated. The event will not be livestreamed.
The Remembrance Day service will start at 10:15am at the World War Two memorial in Bicentennial Park, on Thursday.
