The competition is slated to swing into action on November 14 and will run over four Sunday afternoons before Christmas.

Ahead of that Tamworth Baseball Inc (TBI) is holding a registration day this coming Sunday and another the following Sunday from 4pm at the baseball fields.

There will be no online registration with anyone wishing to play in the competition needing to sign-up at one of the registration days.

"We really need to sight their vaccination certificates," president David McMurray explained.

"That's why we've done it like this."

As per government regulations, anyone 16 and over will have to be double vaccinated to participate. Likewise any spectators.

The competition is open to players from 16-years-old up, and will be mixed.

Going off the response to the survey the TBI put out at the end of the winter season, gauging interest for a summer comp, they are hoping to get at least four teams.

"The response was pretty good, people want to be back on the park," McMurray said.

But it's not just the baseball regulars that they are hoping will get involved.

They are hoping the more social atmosphere will attract new players to the game.

McMurray said after that second Sunday they will close off registrations.

They'll then as a committee get together and do the team selections.

They are still finalising the cost with players having to be registered through Baseball NSW.

McMurray said any registrations from the winter competition have elapsed but they are able to register under a short-season competition, which should help keep the cost down.

"We're not expecting the cost to be more than $50," he said.

Sparked really by losing so many games during the winter - McMurray said they probably would have only got half the season in thanks to wet weather and then COVID - the association is hoping it is the start of something new.

"We'd like to think this will be ongoing in future years," he said.

"Hopefully it can lead to bigger and better things."
