A MAN has escaped on an electric scooter after allegedly arming himself with a socket wrench during a robbery at a Tamworth business on Monday night.

Oxley police are appealing for any information after a man entered a business on Kent Street after 11pm on Monday.
Police claim the man approached the counter to pay for an item but was confronted about a drink he allegedly had hidden in his clothing as he tried to leave.

A staff member attempted to lock the store with the man still inside but police claim the alleged offender armed himself with a socket wrench and threatened him.
The man then fled the scene on an electric scooter, according to police.
No one was reportedly injured in the incident.
A crime scene was established by police at the time and investigators have been combing for clues as inquiries continue.
Detectives are searching for a man they wish to speak to, who is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a thin build and short, brown receding hair, wearing a blue jacket, backpack and navy pants.
Police have urged anyone with any information about the alleged incident or with dashcam footage from the Kent Street area at the time to contact Tamworth police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
