The Rotary Club of Tamworth Sunrise hope to clock up 19,815 kilometres - the distance from Tamworth to Rovaniemi in Finland - to get to Santa's workshop in time for Christmas.
The big trek will raise funds to support the club's many community initiatives and president Taylor Fletcher says it's also a good excuse to get out and get moving during lockdown.
"We have our past year's exchange students in Milan and in Finland, and with Finland synonymous with Santa, that's where the idea came from the make it a long, long, long walk but over a long time," she said.
"It's the first time our club has done anything like this, we usually have a Casino Royale Ball as a fundraiser every May, but we haven't been able to run that for two years in a row."

The initiative was only launched on Sunday night, but already the participants are a couple of hundred kilometres closer to reaching Father Christmas.
Members have been jumping on board a bike, electrical trainer or just pounding the pavement, depending on their mobility or schedules.
Anyone in the community is invited to join the adventure, with entry just $25 per person.
