A WOMAN accused of leading police on a car chase through the CBD with a toddler in the back has fronted court for the first time.

Court documents show the 20-year-old accused did not appear in Tamworth Local Court earlier this week.
Magistrate Julie Soars adjourned the case to next month.
The woman is facing a raft of charges relating to an alleged police pursuit through the main streets of Tamworth on the afternoon of July 28.
She has not yet been required to enter pleas.

Police allege the woman swapped seats with the male driver of a grey sedan when it was stopped by police for a random breath test on the outskirts of Tamworth, about 4:30pm.
Officers claim they tried to arrest the man at the time but the pair fled in the car.
Police gave chase on a pursuit that wove through the Tamworth CBD, where the grey sedan allegedly crashed into a parked car before being driven away again.
Police said they abandoned the chase due to safety concerns.
Oxley police continued to search for the pair, and found the grey Nissan Dualis parked on an Oxley Vale street a short time later.
Police claim a toddler was discovered sitting in the back seat of the car, but the young child was not injured.
The woman was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station.
The accused is facing charges of police pursuit and drive dangerously; drive recklessly or furiously; and not give particulars to other drivers.
She is also facing other allegations connected to the incident including using an offensive weapon in company to prevent detention; resist or hinder police in execution of their duty; and not stop vehicle when directed.
The matters will return to court in early September.
The accused has been on bail since her arrest last month, and Ms Soars continued her conditions.
