POPULAR Tamworth restaurant Pig & Tinder Box has shut for two weeks effective immediately after learning a person with COVID-19 attended the premises last Thursday.
Management were notified by NSW Health that a case signed in for two minutes between 10.52 and 10.54am, prior to the restaurant's opening.
The Pig & Tinder Box and NSW Health have so far not been able to confirm what the person was doing there, or whether they had any close contacts during that time.
However, the restaurant has stated all staff will isolate and be tested.
The restaurant will be undergoing a deep clean, which will be carried out by a commercial cleaner who has been trained in dealing with a COVID-19 response.
The eatery issued a statement on social media, apologising for any inconvenience but commenting it was better to err on the side of caution.
"We are still waiting on formal advice from NSW Health, but out of an abundance of caution and for the safety of the Tamworth community we have made the necessary decision to close the Pig for two weeks," a spokesperson said.
"Thank you for your understanding and we can't wait to be back open and serving Tamworth. Please stay safe."
