The four-year-old now has three wins from six starts since coming to Bourke's stable.
Vertical has been no slouch in the other three runs either, with a fourth and two seconds.
Speaking to Sky Thoroughbred Central after Tuesday's win in the Nufarm Gwydir Handicap (1200m) at the Moree Race Club, Bourke said Vertical was continually surprising him.
"Very happy with him and Jodi's [Worley] riding him very well," Bourke said.
"He surprises me every time he goes out, actually."

Worley sat in the back third of the field before peeling Vertical out around the bend.
With clear running, the gelding let down to beat another Moree horse in the Peter Sinclair-trained Liberty Head who was 0.83 lengths back in second.
The best of the trainers on the day was Coonabarabran's Wayne Martyn who had wins with Hayley's Lightning and For Da Boys.
Jockeys Georgina McDonnell and Clayton Gallagher also scored a pair of wins each on the day.
