The 2021 challenge started on 1 July and we have made a strong start with steady donations.
We have proudly participated for the past six years and have been one of the leading councils in the national campaign which is all about helping Australian Red Cross Lifeblood save lives.
We have staff who are passionate about this cause - they do not only donate whole blood and plasma regularly during the three-month challenge but all -year round.
Last year Tamworth Regional Council ended the three-month challenge with enough donations to help save 1194 lives and this year we are hoping to top that.
We can only achieve that with a helping hand from our family and friends - any member of the community can ask for their donation to be added to council's tally when they make a donation.
Each donation can help save up to three lives and all it takes is for us to give up some of our time at Tamworth Donor Centre.
Call 13 14 95 to make an appointment. The challenge runs until 30 September.
These changes include:
- Town Hall Car Park - from all metered parking and 2 hour free parking to 2 hour metered parking
- Bourke Street - change from 2 hour free to 2 hour metered parking
- Kable Avenue (outside of Office Works) - changed to become 2 hour free parking
- Fitzroy Street - change from 4 hour metered to 2 hour metered parking
- White Street (northern side of street) - change from 4 hour metered to 2 hour metered parking.
We also have 40 new spaces available for all day parking at the White Street carpark.
The changes are a part of the Tamworth CBD Parking Strategy and have been put in place help reduce congestion between Peel and Marius Streets.
Lastly, I would like to congratulate our community on the way we have all responded to the latest COVID restrictions.
It has been great to see everyone masking up when they are out and about.
By following the restrictions, we are helping keep our community safe and our economy ticking over.
This week further rules come into play with signing in using the Service NSW QR Code system required at many more locations.
There will be QR Code signage at every Council venue entrance from Monday and I ask that you help our staff by signing in on arrival.
If you don't have access to a smart phone or require assistance please let one of our staff know as they are more than willing to help.
