"I would never do anything to hurt you in any way I swear on my mother's grave."

Anthony Raymond Taylor has been jailed for at least six years in the NSW District Court for the "terrifying" attack on a Tamworth woman in her home following months of stalking.

The now 60-year-old truck driver became obsessed with his victim in 2018 with relentless contact and leaving gifts on her doorstop, including five necklaces and two rings, according to the facts.

Each time she let him know it was inappropriate and that he should respect her wishes.

In December, he had her initials tattooed inside a love heart between his shoulder blades, and visited her house while she was naked getting dressed for work.

He filmed and photographed her on three separate occasions in the bedroom through fly-screen he had secretly removed.

In February 2019, Taylor let himself into her home with a key he had cut without her consent and hid behind a curtain.

He was wearing a black and white face mask, a black wig, and carried with him black tape, another face and eye mask, and handcuffs.

About 10pm she returned to her locked-up house, showered, and was walking through her living room naked when she noticed a bicycle helmet out of place, and the curtain positioned differently.

She walked towards the window when Taylor confronted her from behind, pushing her to the floor saying "I don't want to hurt you I just want money for drugs".

He placed pre-cut pieces of tape over her mouth, handcuffed her hands, and put an eye and face mask over her head, making it hard to breathe normally.

He then digitally and sexually assaulted her multiple times while making her move positions in the bedroom for about 45 minutes, at one point saying "relax".

In sentencing, Judge Warwick Hunt said the shocking attack was particularly demeaning given she was shackled.

"It must of been terrifying to be confronted with and assaulted by a masked and unknown intruder," he said.

"It's hard to imagine how somebody could remain unscathed psychologically from a series of offences of this kind."

Days after the assault Taylor texted the woman who had now stopped responding to him, multiple times.

One read: "Have I done anything wrong?"

Detectives later found his secretly recorded videos and disguises while forensic analysis matched his DNA with other evidence.

Taylor originally denied the charges but eventually pleaded guilty to a number of offences including aggravated sexual assault while depriving her liberty.

Judge Hunt accepted some remorse had since been shown but said it was worrying the real motivations behind his obsession, and the extraordinary way he continued to try to ingratiate himself with the victim following the attack, was largely unexplained.

He was sentenced to a total prison term and extended AVO order of nine years.
