In a newsletter to club members, president Aaron Turner reported that "this is the strongest season and number of kids the mighty Tamworth Tri Colours have had" in his eight years involved with the club.
"This would not be possible without an enthusiastic committee of great people," he added.
"We hit the ground running this year with our sponsorship drive which was a raging success. We secured minor and major sponsors that has set the club up for this year and next."

U12 WRAP UP - Adam Daly (coach)
It was great to see so many new and returning players registering for our U12 team this season. What an exciting start to the 2021 season it was with the team having our first hit out at the TAS carnival in Armidale. The cold and very wet weather was not conducive to our 'running rugby' style but we battled hard against some teams that clearly had more prep time. While the results did not go our way, the group played their hearts out and came away hungry for the season ahead. More importantly, the group had a great time getting to know each other with the players enjoying a sleep over at TAS providing the chance to bond further. All players especially enjoying a dip in the heated pool to warm up at the end of the first day.
Our focus at training has been on teamwork - passing to and attacking space, supporting the ball carrier, and dominating the break down when the ball is on the ground. With this in mind the CN Gala Days have been a huge success with many positive results and dominant displays from the team. While scores are not officially kept, the players will tell you that we have only had one loss this season. From a coach's point of view it has been very pleasing to see the players embrace the form of rugby we are training for, apply the passing skills we are developing and enjoy playing as a team and supporting the success of others. We are very proud of how far they have come in such a short time together.
U10 WRAP UP - Joe Stolker (coach)
What an incredible start to the season. Our first carnival saw the introduction of a whole new group of keen boys and girls to rugby union. Welcoming around 28 registered players, of which seven had played before, made things a little interesting and challenging at times with those cleaning out the cobwebs and getting past the anxiety of something new.
Over the past few weeks, we have seen the team improve incredibly, bonding well with each other, forming new friendships, and progressing strongly with their developing skills. Our focus over the past few weeks has been basic drills - catch and pass, tackling technique & safety and line defence.
We will now progress more into gameplay, set plays (scrums and lineouts) and breakdowns (rucks and mauls). It is very rewarding to see the team develop and progress each week, there have been some amazing improvements had by all.
U6 & 8s WRAP UP- Evan Kellow (coach)
Once again, our numbers have doubled on the previous year, and again we have seen a large number of both male and female players register for the 8's. This season has also seen us consistently enter two or more teams to every gala day which is a huge achievement with so many other sports available to young kids these days. Our training has again focused on the core skills required for rugby and with so many new players to the sport our aim each week is to develop players as well as have as much fun as possible.
With the season well under way we look forward to the reaming gala days and hope to have "The Prawn" & "The T-Rex" mastered by the season end!
