Scott William Newman did not appear in Tamworth Local Court last week, and has remained behind bars since Strike Force Catkin officers arrested him in January.

DPP solicitor Cat McKay said she was waiting for more material to be served, and asked magistrate Julie Soars for a short adjournment.

"There's some telephone intercept material served with the brief but we subsequently discovered it was only portions of it," Ms McKay said.

Ms Soars granted the adjournment and ordered Newman to appear via video link on the next occasion if the case was ready to progress.

"Adjourned for charge certification on the 16^th of June," she said.

That DPP would need to confirm the charges against Newman.

Police allege Newman detained a person in company with the intent of obtaining an advantage, a charge that carries up to 20 years in prison if found guilty. Newman has not entered pleas to charges of supplying a prohibited drug; supplying drugs on an ongoing basis; supplying cannabis; and dealing with suspected proceeds of crime.

Strike Force Catkin police homed in on Newman as part of an investigation into drug supply in Tamworth and Werris Creek.

Newman has been bail refused since his arrest, despite his mother offering a significant bail bond earlier this year.

Bail was not applied for this week and was formally refused. The matter returns in June.
