Central North Rugby Round 7: Gunnedah bounce back in comprehensive style thumping Scone 45-14

Half-back Steven Leuta and second rower Tim McDermott both crossed for doubles as the Red Devils bounced back in comprehensive fashion.

Coach Dan Martin said it certainly wasn't the perfect game and there is "still a lot to work on" but it "got the boys back in the right mindset".

"We still left a lot of points out there on the field," Martin said.

"(And) We fell asleep in the last 10 minutes and they got a couple of tries on us."

But the attitude was a lot better. That was the biggest thing.

"I don't believe they had the right respect for their team-mates and pride in the jumper the week before," Martin said.

"It was something they all addressed at training this week."

Down 12-nil after 10 minutes last week, on Saturday they were on the front foot from early on.

Breakaway Ron Hobden was again a standout for them.

"He was strong defensively and on the ball," Martin said.

"He really led from the front and ran some nice lines as well."

Fullback James Perret was also "good again".

Martin also made mention of McDermott and Roland Stinson at tighthead.

It was important the Red Devils found their form again with a testing two weeks coming up, starting with a top-of-the table clash against Narrabri.

The Blue Boars sit just a point behind them and had a strong win over Moree, outgunning their arch rivals 43-5.

Walcha were even more impressive, Charlie Keen bagging a hat-trick and Sam Lomax and Ed Churchill doubles as they hammered Barraba 83-7.
