The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, did not appear in Tamworth Local Court on Wednesday, but his lawyer told the court there were "outstanding" items that needed to be added to the brief of evidence.
Defence solicitor Andrew O'Halloran said two people lost their lives in the horror crash, which occurred on the Thunderbolts Way, about an hour outside Tamworth on September 26, last year.
"The circumstances make this a tragedy of the highest proportion," he told the court.

Mr O'Halloran said he believed there were still pieces of evidence missing from the brief.
"There are a number of items still outstanding," he said.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Rob Baillie said his understanding was that the brief was compliant.
Magistrate Julie Soars said as long as the "outstanding" items were compiled before the case conference - where the prosecution and defence lawyers discuss issues - there shouldn't be a problem.
It's the police case that the man was driving a four-wheel-drive home to Tamworth from holidays with a campervan in tow, when he allegedly crossed the centre line and collided with an oncoming sedan near Nowendoc.
A young girl, who was a backseat passenger in the four-wheel-drive, died after suffering critical injuries in the crash. The sole occupant of the sedan, a woman in her 70s, was also killed.
A family member of the woman was in court to hear the case on Wednesday.
The Tamworth-accused faces nine charges including two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death. He has not been required to enter pleas.
The case will return to court in April. The accused will remain on bail but has been ordered to appear on the next occasion.
