Jleal Blacklock, 25, was due to face a hearing in Tamworth Local Court on Tuesday morning, but it didn't go ahead, instead three charges were withdrawn by prosecutors. Blacklock pleaded guilty to an offence of committing an act of cruelty upon an animal.
Charges of torturing, beating and causing prolonged suffering to an animal; contravening a domestic AVO; and torturing or beating an animal causing its death were then withdrawn by the prosecution.
In sentencing, magistrate Peter Thompson placed Blacklock on a Community Correction Order (CCO), or bond, for 12 months.

As part of the CCO, Blacklock must not commit any offences, and must pay a $700 fine.
It had been the police case that the 25-year-old stabbed the mixed breed dog in the backyard of a Cossa Street home in Coledale on the afternoon of January 29.
A 36-year-old woman, who police said was known to the accused, took the injured dog to a nearby animal hospital, but it later died, police said at the time.
Blacklock was arrested just after 5.30pm by police patrolling Robert Street. He's been in custody since, after he was denied bail in Tamworth court.
Three days after, Blacklock pleaded not guilty to the charges in court. The case was allocated a priority custody hearing in Tamworth court because Blacklock had been denied bail, and one of the charges of contravening an AVO was domestic-related.
