Trucks, excavators, and piles of red dirt have replaced the grass expanse at 76-82 Darling Street, and work is well underway to construct a retaining wall .
The contractors currently undertaking works are Brown and Krippner Pty Ltd, and Director Steve Griffiths said they were working on drainage works.
The development application for the works was passed by Tamworth Regional Council in 2019.
The land's future is said to include a subdivision into four blocks of about 700 square metres.
It was originally approved for a seven block subdivision, but was then reduced back to four, according to Mr Griffiths.

The site was listed on Ray White's website for $825,000, however it is unconfirmed how much the land went for to the top bidder.
Slight traffic delays are expected on Darling Street while the drainage works are completed.
