Bowlers kicked off February with the sectional play for the 2021 State Fours Championships last weekend.
The winners of the sectional matches - in state, seniors, and president's reserve divisions - will now face off at the Armidale City Bowling Club this weekend in the Zone 3 finals.
Teams from South Tamworth, Inverell RSM, Guyra, North Tamworth, Moree Services, Gunnedah Services, Lightning Ridge and Wee Waa will compete.
Zone 3 match committee chairman Phil O'Reilly, who will also play alongside his South Tamworth team at Armidale, said it looked like an open race in the state competition.
"I don't think there's a standout. There'll be some great competition with all the teams that are competing," he said.
DRAWS FOR ZONE 3 FINALS
The winner at Armidale will move through state fours playoffs in Ettalong in November.
Ettalong is where Wee Waa Bowling Club's Justin Knight is currently playing the State Champion of Champion Singles.
He's vying for a spot in the final on Friday.
There are more state titles coming up next week, with the pairs and triples, while in March the champion of champion pairs and state fours and singles will be played.
