A weekend of rodeo has taken a fatal turn after a man was critically injured by a charging bull in Tamworth.

At about 9.10pm on Saturday, ambulance paramedics were called to the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre on Goonoo Goonoo Road.
They treated the 62-year-old man from Grafton who had been badly injured by the beast.
He was taken to Tamworth Regional Referral Hospital in a critical condition.
Despite the best efforts of medical crews, he died in hospital a short time later.
