The Tamworth teenager was awarded this year's Landcare scholarship - worth $1,000 - to help her follow her dreams and go to university.
Amy finished up Year 12 this year and plans on focusing on issues hiding below the surface.
"My passion for the environment is particularly centred on marine environments," she told the Leader.

Amy said she was especially concerned about how climate change is affecting oceans and the diverse reefs which call them home.
With three university offers already on the table, Amy has to pick between Coffs Harbour, Tasmania and Townsville for her studies.
She said the Landcare bursary would help her with travel costs, when she trades Tamworth for somewhere more coastal.
"It will really help because all the universities I'm hoping to go to are far away from home," she said.
"I'd really like to thank Landcare for this opportunity ... it's really encouraging."
The scholarship was started about 15 years ago, and is awarded to a Tamworth student looking to work in the environmental field - from teachers and scientists to vets and crocodile carers.
