Magistrate Mal MacPherson was told the accused had undergone "emergency surgery".
"Two plates have now been placed in his jaw," Mr Fulcher said, telling the court he was hopeful of having a conference with his client soon, after two previous meetings were cancelled.
"I apologise to the court for the delay."
"It's not your fault," Mr MacPherson replied.
The West Tamworth man has been behind bars since May after he was arrested by Oxley police. He's accused of choking, assaulting and kidnapping his partner at their home.
The court heard charges of impersonating a police officer, and driving recklessly or furiously, or in a speed or manner dangerous would be heard in the local court.
His other charges are set to return to court in mid-December, but he has not been required to enter pleas.
He's accused of DV-related kidnapping with intent to obtain an advantage causing actual bodily harm; intentionally choking a person with recklessness; common assault; and intimidation.
Mr Fulcher said the case could progress before Christmas if all charges were adjourned to be heard together in mid-December.
"Then we can resolve the issues, and the pleas be entered," Mr Fulcher said.
"Bail not applied for, [refused]," Mr MacPherson replied.
