Teen injured after car hits tree
Meanwhile, a teenage driver has been charged with negligent driving after a crash that injured a teenage girl on Saturday.
The Holden Commodore was travelling west along Howell Road at Tingha when the driver lost control about 5.30pm.
Police said the 17-year-old lost control on a left-hand bend and over-corrected the Commodore, before the car left the road and hit a tree.
The car's airbags were deployed and the impact of the crash trapped a 16-year-old girl in the wreckage.
A witness arrived shortly after and helped the injured girl from the vehicle.
Later that night, the injured passenger attended Inverell hospital for assessment after she reported "she was feeling sore".
Police were alerted and attended the hospital to find the passenger "suffered soft tissue damage and soreness", a spokesperson confirmed.
About 10pm, police went to a Mitchell Street home in Inverell and spoke to the teenager driver about what happened.
After investigations into the crash, the teenager was given an infringement notice for negligent driving.
