Plastics being thrown into a green bin that has a plastic liner??! (NDL5.11.20 Page 6) If the organisers of the Amazing Enviro Race 2020, the journalist and the photographer thought this was OK then Tamworth has much further to go in our comprehension of recycling than I thought. Come on council. Run a public education for us all.

Water security
Currently Chaffey Dam sits on just over 33 per cent full and we have returned to 15 minutes outside watering a day after 18 months of none.
However, we are only 30mm from total rainfall of 2016 which left Chaffey Dam at 100 per cent.
Why the difference?
Total rainfall for 2018-2019 was less than we have received this year and 2017 was 90mm less so the catchment was very dry and rain soaked in replenishing the soil and aquifers. Climate has also been hotter for longer which increases evaporation.
Evaporation at current temperatures can be as high as 90 percent in open bodies of water.
Dams dry the area out below them as they are deprived of their natural flow. This affects fish breeding, native turtles, platypus, frogs, vegetation, aquifers, bores, etc
Covered off river storage would be a more reliable water source combined with rainwater tanks to every building with internal plumbing to toilets and reuse of all the water that goes to the treatment works.
It is time to abandon sixties thinking and update which would also give us more permanent jobs! A dam will create very few and cost water users dearly

KFC
A gaggle of Liberal and National Party blowhards dribbling on TV that they are going to lower our electricity cost by $130 a year. The same self-serving muppets that privatised our energy sector and raised our costs by four times what they are offering to save us? They need $32 billion to save an industry they sold for $13 odd billion. Typical.
Political maths. Sydney gets hundreds of millions of dollars for road funding and we can't even get a few lousy millions to reseal all of Rangari Rd. You would think that BJ is the only political representative we have for our region. Where's Kevvy?? Maybe he's on another fishing trip on his motel, sorry, boat, on Sydney Harbour. Kevin Anderson, did someone say KFC? (Kevin Fails Constituents). Bob Snell, Tamworth
Environment
It was maddening to see our local member be so dismissive of a Bill put forward to have a national debate for bipartisan support to manage the risks of climate change. He states it is not an issue for his electorate and yet in the 'Leader' just today we read of Year 5 students at Calrossy being worried about climate change and that no one is doing anything about it.
The New England electorate has four out of the top five hit NSW towns hit for extreme storm damages last season as extreme weather is predicted by climate scientists to be increasing and The National Farmers Federation reinforces its 2050 net zero emissions target along with the ANZ banks 10 year Climate Change Policy.
If farms, school students, banks and property safety doesn't fit 'all demographics' of our electorate I don't know how more far reaching the conversations of climate change needs to be before Mr Joyce will sit up and listen.'

Light at the end of the tunnel
I woke from a long nightmare and saw that in the light of day Democracy had conquered disorder and it was not fake news. Not only is it pleasing to see President Elect Biden but also, and uniquely, Vice President Elect Harris, a woman of colour. The future looks rosy and colourful and it's about time.
Life is balanced, with the great speech by Biden against the disturbing tweets of, soon to be ex-president, Trump. You cannot buy a victory, nor sue yourself into the role, you must be given it by the people, a reality, the loser Trump, must accept before he skulks back to his golf course.
The complexities of this electoral system have caused concerns and some delay and it may be time to consider how to simplify it.
It is time to look to the future and consign the few miles built of the "great, beautiful wall" to rubble as a symbol of the Trump presidency. The economy needs to be built up and COVID knocked down, the education system needs to be strong, equitable, available to all and preferably truly free. It can be done!
There is now hope and it is time for President elect Biden to build a better, united country. Good Luck!
