Tamworth Regional Council moved from Level 5 water restrictions to Level 4, and the newfound freedom has led to an increase in breach reports.
The region moved to Level 4 at the end of August with a the new water use target of 200L per person, per day.
A report to council shows that in the month of September, 11 people dobbed-in their neighbours for doing the wrong thing.
Rangers have also received several calls during business hours about the use of hoses for washing cars and watering gardens.
