Normally, the conservatorium would have their annual showcase in the Town Hall, and while it is still planned for August 9, engagement will be a little different, says Director Noelle McGane, pictured left.
"It features all our scholarship holders, and we have four of them, who do solos," she explained.
"We will be live-streaming from the town hall, so they will still be on stage, can still dress up and perform in that space, and some smaller groups, like the sting quartets and other groups will perform too."
It may be the case early childhood groups will have their performances pre-recorded to be played instead. Winter concerts normally held for AMEB exam students to play before their exams will now be held in October.
Teachers were working from home and teaching zoom lessons online during lockdowns, but Ms McGrane said they had 10 tutors now returning to face to face teaching.
"We will have all teachers back on deck at the beginning of Term 3," Ms McGrane said.
Ensemble groups will be back up and running by then too, she explained.
"Our Philamonia youth orchestra meeting via zoom, and while they couldn't play together, they'd play parts of music for each other and chat," she said.
"One of our adult groups, the Sinfonia, they also were meeting via zoom and playing their music for each other. That social contact .,. It was good for both adults and the children."
