Council has chosen to put $100,000 of state government emergency grant money towards prepping community halls.
The move coincides with a council initiative to stimulate tourism in the region, hoped to encourage more spending in an area reeling from the impact of drought, fires and now COVID-19.
The Gilgai Hall kitchen will be upgraded, Delungra and Yetman Halls will get a new lick of paint. Tingha will get a new community noticeboard, as well as a new barbecue area. External fixed seating will be added, with pop-up shelters purchased.
MP Adam Marshall said the halls will be more accessible for use as emergency meeting places.
"For the residents of Tingha and Gilgai the devastating bushfires of February 2019 will be forever etched into their memories," Mr Marshall said.
Council will be working with a television producer to create a series of nationally televised segments to showcase locations, attractions, and accommodation in areas directly affected by the fires.

"During those fires, their local halls acted as central gathering point for the community, where they could access information or evacuate to if their homes were under threat."
Deputy Mayor Anthony Michael said funding would also be put towards supporting local businesses who've taken a financial hit.
"Council will be working with a television producer to create a series of nationally televised segments to showcase locations, attractions, and accommodation in areas directly affected by the fires," Cr Michael said.
