It's tough news for travellers in Armidale, with the airline suspending its Armidale to Sydney service altogether.
Overall the company will reduce its capacity by 45 per cent, Rex's strategy and sales general manager Warrick Lodge said.
"The operating environment is extremely fluid and we will be monitoring the situation closely," he said.
"If the situation worsens we may be forced to further reduce capacity in the interests of maintaining essential regional air services."
The airline has foreshadowed more cuts to its services.
