CBD clean up
I note with interest the letter from Kylie Jacobs on Saturday in which she expresses concern at the presentation of our main street. It is pleasing to see Kylie expressing in public, the concerns which are widely felt by our residents.
The last of my many such expressions were conveyed TWICE to both Council and The Tamworth Business Chamber, following a letter dated 19.10.19 from the NSW Office of Local Government, wherein they advised me of the action being taken by some Sydney Councils in addressing this matter, where any such problem was evident.
The action referred to was that the Council contacted the Local Business Chamber for positive support.
I have not even had the courtesy of a response to such suggestions, since I first referred them to both TRC and Tamworth Business Chamber, some 3 months ago??
Good luck with your efforts Kylie-keep up the good work

Kissing babies
Australia had great hope for its tennis champion Ash Barty, the world number one, to win the Australian Women's Open but it didn't happen.
She went to the post-match interview not as a cry-baby like so many losing players but with a real baby, her niece, and this led to some controversy.
She commented that family was the really important part of life and this may be the most important message of the tournament. Some of the media criticized this as a way of blocking interviewers from asking difficult questions. It is unlikely this would be an effective shield.
If a baby could stop reporters from asking difficult questions, then every politician would stop kissing babies and start bringing them to every event. This is an interesting contrast to the parliament itself where until recently breast-feeding babies were banned from attending sessions.
Babies are noisy, messy and demanding just like most politicians and reporters so when they behave, they can ask their questions.

Climate debate rages
Firstly I thank you for publishing my letter 'Token gratitude' which was written with sincerity. However, on the letter topic, ref Steve May: "Ignore the message at your peril".
Possibly Mr May is having hallucinations about the weather pattern - he cannot define summer from winter, his 'god-fearing' terminology is kindergarten lore. Mr May should also 'brush up' on his geography. The PM was holidaying (as is the usual practice this time of year) in Hawaii, not Fiji.
I suggest Mr May digest the letter "Climate change debate" (same page) written expertly by Daniel Peckham, which is self-explanatory - any person of some intellect would agree with Mr Peckham's knowledge of past events that were proven "scares".
NB: Rocket science is non redundant.
