The Kris Lees-trained Bombasay was the first to notch a record-breaking time, completing the 1300m course in just over one minute and 16 seconds.
However, the record proved to be short-lived as the Cody Morgan-trained Steamboat Sally bettered the run in the very next race.

The record-breaking runs continued in the next race as Wayne Seelin's Weston went on to break the 1770m record.
"It became a bit of running joke there at one point, with how regularly the records were being broken," Morgan told the Leader.
"I think the change in rail position over the 1300m distance was probably the key to those two good runs. However, it was a pretty good run and I was really pleased with the result."
Having recently won in Sydney, Morgan said he was hopeful Monday's win could be "the start of something special" for the four-year-old bay mare.
"She had won in Sydney recently, so she is pretty well-credentialled," he said.
"I think we will probably look at giving her a run on her home track here in Tamworth next, before looking at a possible Highway Handicap run later in the year."
Morgan said his The Kosciuszko hopeful, Over and Above, was also likely to feature at the next Tamworth meeting.
"All the tickets have been allocated for this year, so we missed out on that one unfortunately," he said.
"But there is always next year and the region does have Mel O'Gorman racing in it with Suncraze, so we will wish her all the best."
