Local Health Committee
Many people in Armidale may be unaware that there is a Local Health Committee as part of the Hunter New England Health District service for Armidale.
The purpose or key role of a Local Health Committee is to provide leadership in the local community to help ensure health services meet local community health needs and ensure the promotion and enhancement of the health of the community.
The Local Health Committee works with the local health services manager, and with key community partners to represent the local community on matters relating to health and health services.
The committee aims to help identify better ways of access to health services for key groups in the community and better ways to consult and involve patients and carers.
The purpose of this communication to the community is to seek comments and ideas that the committee can consider and convey to the local health service in order to fulfill the purpose and function as already stated. Importantly suggestions re enhancements to or deficits in local health service provision important to our local community.
More information is available on the HNE Health website under About Us, Our Community, Local Health Committees. Link to more info also on Armidale Express website/Community.
The current members on the committee are Dr Tom Tait (Chair), Faye Griffiths, Nanette Jameson, Rosemary Johnson, Roy Powell and Jenny Walmsley.
Contact can be made with committee via the Armidale Hospital or by phone to Tom Tait on 0417 577 786.
Tom Tait,

Lost Soldier
I am trying very hard to locate a lost soldier who I served with in South Vietnam on 1970. His name is Gregory Phillip Dowdell and he was born in Guyra on 4 April, 1948.
Greg was a Sapper with the Royal Australian Engineer Corps and served in country from 23 December 1969 to 22 July 1971.
I would very much like to make contact with Greg again after all of these years but if he does not I would still like to know he is alive and well. My mobile phone number is 0439023888 and please call if you have any information.
