Police will allege a 34-year-old Inverell male spat at a Sergeant and hit two Senior Constables in the face in the early hours of Saturday, July 27.

Officers were called to an Avern Street address at about 3am regarding the male being at a location in breach of his Apprehended Violence Order (AVO).
During the arrest police allege the man made numerous threats towards the officers, spat and hit them.

He was arrested and conveyed to Inverell Police Station where he was charged with Breaching an Apprehended Violence Order, Assaulting Police and Harassing Police in the execution of their duty.
The Inverell man, who is currently on parole, was refused bail on Saturday and appeared before Moree Local Court yesterday.
In New South Wales (NSW), assaults against police officers are taken extremely seriously as well as harassing police in the execution of their duty.
A charge of assaulting a police officer in their execution of duty carries a maximum penalty of 14 years imprisonment.
