Meanwhile, fellow Tamworth riders Phil Kelaher (17th), Scott Thompson (21st), Mark Jeffrey (26th) and Michael Foster (27th) all had strong showings.
However, it was not enough to stop Inverell's Dylan and Zak Sunderland from taking out first and second place respectively.
Dylan crossed the line first with a time of 1 hour 43 minutes, while Zak was close behind finishing in 1 hour 44 minutes.
Deasey will be among several riders who will now turn their attentions to the tour of Canberra, while others will be eyeing off this weekend's Grafton to Inverell classic.
"For me it will be about building up my form and my confidence as the season progresses," Deasey told the Leader in April.
"So we will start up near Armidale, then from there we will focus on the Tour of Canberra."
