Despite going down 2-1 to Flames, Services coach Josh Worpel thought they moved the ball well in the second half.
Reflecting on Sunday's performance, one of the things he was most impressed with as they claimed their second win for the season was the way that they moved the ball.
"We used the midfield well," Worpel said.
"Our transfers were good, that was a positive for us."
His only complaint was that on the balance of opportunities they created they probably could have scored a few more goals, although Waratahs' defensive strategy didn't make things easy.
"Waratahs sat 11 behind the ball. They crowded the circle," Worpel said.
Addressing that in the second half, they tried to stretch the defence out a bit more by pulling the ball wider to try and create some space for the strikers.
He said it was hard to judge too much from the game with Waratahs "very understrength". They probably only had one or two regular first graders.
"It's still early in the season but there are plenty of good signs there for us," he said.
Leading 3-nil at half-time, Worpel said it was pleasing to double that in the second half.
He said Sarah Dicker was good in front of goals for them.
"She took her chances when they came and Kim (McLean) controlled the midfield pretty well," he said.
