With pre-season training about to kick off, Jason Edwards has been appointed Inverell Hawks’ A-grade coach for the coming season.

Originally born in Inverell, Jason comes to the Hawks with a wealth of experience. During the 1990s, he represented the Newcastle Knights, Newcastle divisional side, country firsts and the NSW Aboriginal side against QLD.
He has been coaching consistently since 2001 with his last appointment at West Wallsend. Jason will commence training on Tuesday, February 5.
The Hawks have also reappointed James Ballinger as the junior coach. The remaining coaches will be finalised prior to training commencing.
Meanwhile, at a recent annual general meeting two long standing committeemen and former players were awarded life memberships of the Hawks.
Glenn Partridge and David Koch were awarded this honour for their contributions to the club. Glenn first started with the Hawks in 1996 when he was a member of the A Grade side that was defeated in the Grand Final by Warialda.
In 1997 he was in the premiership winning Reserve Grade side against Guyra, and followed this up with A Grade premierships in 1998 against Armidale, 2000 against Glen Innes, and a Grand Final loss in 1999 to Warialda.
He has been involved as a committed member of the Hawks since his playing days and continues to assist with match day activities particularly in organising bars and the MC for special functions.
David commenced with the Hawks back in 1993 being a regular member of the A Grade squad through to 2000. He participated in over 120 A Grade matches winning premierships in 1998 and 2000.
He was a Hawks Grand Finalist in 1994 and 1996. He has coached the juniors to premierships in 1994, 2015 and 2016 and also to the Grand Finals in 1995 and 1996.
Last year he was the coach of the premiership winning Ladies League Tag side. David has also been the recipient of the Hawks Clubman of the Year on two occasions.
