Old Quipolly Dam
As we all know things are drying up very quickly. Like a majority of the dams, especially Keepit. And we need a substantial amount of rain over a period of time to replenish all the waterways.

I frequent Quipolly Dam regularly and it to has not been left out of the eye of the drought aswell. The upgrade of the wall is great but needs the water to maximise its potential and effect.
So in saying all of that Old Quipolly Dam is dry and silted up nearly to the top of the wall. I think and believe if it was cleaned out now while the opportunity is available and dug down to its original depth or if not deeper it would be a vital asset to replenishing the new Quipolly Dam as Werris Creek’s water supply. The location of Old Quipolly Dam is in a ideal location to catch a lot of run off water from the neighboring hills.

Federal infrastructure funding
In the article “Tamworth bypass: Barnaby Joyce’s big project for 2019” (NDL 31st December 2018), the Member for New England Barnaby Joyce raises some valid and important points.
The first issue is a by-pass for trucks. This will improve freight productivity and will mean less need for trucks to enter Tamworth suburban areas and the CBD.
The second issue is water infrastructure and security for Tamworth as a growing and prosperous rural city. Whether it be an upgrade to Dungowan Dam or a further extension to Chaffey Dam, getting the ball rolling there will support processing jobs in Tamworth, our agricultural surrounds and provide water security for residents. Barnaby Joyce is correct when he points out in the article that the money has to be used or it won’t come back for such a project.
Lastly mentioned in the article is the relocation of APVMA to Armidale. Decentralisation of government departments to a major rural city such as Armidale is important to ensuring that people can access the services that are important to them without having to have that department in Sydney or Canberra. This department will also employ people in Armidale bringing income flow into the New England area. Let’s get everyone on board to support these projects.

Tamworth Council to Thrive
Remember when Armidale was silly enough to pay a fortune for the word "Thrive", a word we shared with a brand of lawn seed?
Unfortunately, the Thrive idea died on the ground in Armidale.
No worries, Tamworth has picked it up and is broadcasting it as an tv and online campaign - see https://www.nbnnews.com.au/2017/10/16/council-calls-on-tamworth-to-thrive/.
Did Tamworth pay - what was it - 30 or 40 grand? Does the same ad agency do an exhaustive community consultation and analysis then just sell the same word to everyone? Or did Tamworth pinch Thrive from us? Do we have copyright and get royalties? Or maybe someone in Tamworth spent 30 or 40 bucks on a dictionary? What’s the latest brilliant idea?
