I respond to the letter to the Editor (Re- Moore and Moor 8/11/18) from Warwick McInnes, and I totally and fully agree with what he is saying.

There was also a school at the “T” intersection of Moor Creek Road and Daruka Road next to the telephone exchange and on the South/East of land belonging to the Warners family. That school was closed and moved somewhere else and the children attending that school had to travel to the School Warwich McInnes is talking about which was located at the intersection of Moor Creek Road and the now known as Maysteers Lane. Across the road, as Warwick is correctly saying, was the old brick school which was later bought by Dr. Bedville. I don’t know if I am 100% correct and I can stand correcting if I am not, but I believe that the name of the Principal at the time for the School Warwich is talking about, was Mr. Potter.
During those days, the road was just a dirt road from at least the Daruka Rd turn off to the top end of Moor Creek where the Boy Scouts Camp was situated. That road was, and still is, a dead end road which finished in the Canu’s farm. That farm was known as Dorothy Vale. In places it was just a one track road and, during heavy rain the road was getting too boggy and even going under water in places to take the children to school where you couldn’t even cross it. During these times of heavy wet weather I used to drive my tractor to those boggy places with a carryall on the back of it and load the children (driven there by the families on the other side of those boggy spots) on the back of my carryall and carry them across to my truck and from there drive them to school or, at a later date, on to the awaiting bus. The School was always known as Moor Creek not Moore Creek.
There was also a Post Office at Moor Creek and, from memory, the Post Office was located on the block at where 1087 Moore Creek Road is at present and the house was later recladded or renovated after the Post office was closed down.
I am still very confused about it all and would like to know as to why the name was later changed to Moore when the Moor name attributed to that area was there since it all begun.
I have more interesting information coming and share with the interested readers which will be made available when time permit.
