The softly spoken songstress teamed up with emerging dobro player James Church after the pair met at Tamworth’s own CMAA Academy of Country Music.
Now, they’ve released their latest single I’m Gonna Love Her All the Time – the first where they harmonise the entire way through.
“Sometimes you just get a line or a hypothetical train of thought that’s worth following,” Church said.
“Our music is quieter, stripped back and more intimate, we were sort of stuck with what worked from the start.”
A rare instrument for Australia, Church unexpectedly discovered the dobro on a trip to the record store.
“You used to be able to go in and have a listen to an album before you bought it, the one I listened to was one of the best dobro players in the world with a lot of artists I knew guesting,” he said.
“I listened to it, I didn’t know what it was but I had to have it.”
The song showcases the first time Montgomery has picked up a banjo, she said the song called for something a bit more rough and ready.

The pair are playing a number of shows at the Toyota Country Music Festival in 2019, including Bluegrass at The Capitol Theatre and shows at The Press bar.
