In relation to Kevin Anderson not signing the (police) petition, I do not need many words to cover this subject.
Kevin Anderson is not signing the petition for the same reason many so called elected representatives do not sign petitions or a contract of representation when elected.
By signing, Kevin Anderson would be entering into a contract with the electorate and have to deliver a positive result on behalf of the community petitioners.
By not signing, there is an out clause created, without any binding responsibility to deliver.
This is the same as your voting forms being marked in pencil and not binding ink.
NSW needs to follow the progressive democracy of New Zealand and introduce Citizen Initiated Referenda, placing the power in the hands of the people to petition on important issues and not be manipulated by party politics.
Another major country with CIR is Switzerland and it’s record speaks for itself.
