The task that sits before North Companions Black in Sunday’s Tamworth District Football women’s division one grand final is a big one.
Tamworth FC Sky await Northies in the big dance.
They haven’t lost a game all season.
They scored 98 goals and conceded just seven in the regular season.
But North Companions coach Pat Warren isn’t daunted by the task.
No, he has an air of confidence about him that his side can get the job done.
Warren says he only needs to look back to their qualifying final against Tamworth FC to draw inspiration from.
While Northies lost 2-1, he said there was plenty to take from the match.
“We played them two weeks ago, we were ahead pretty much until after half-time,” Warren said.
“In that game we were missing some key players in Hannah Beaman plus we were also missing a bit of pace on our wings.
“Marnie Watson, she’s been solid in the back, we were missing her but on Sunday we’ll have a full squad with six on the bench.”
Warren said that bench could prove to be the difference.
“We’ve got a couple surprises up our sleeves,” Warren said.
“A couple younger girls coming off the bench haven't played that [FC] team before.
“They have got speed plus a bit of skill and being so young, they're the sort of kids just play what they see in front of them.”
Warren said Tamworth FC’s attack was good but they were “even stronger at the back”.
But he also noted Northies have managed to crack FC’s defence before.
“We’re one of the only teams that have scored against them,” Warren said.
Tamworth FC will also be represented in the second division clash with Tamworth FC Rangers taking on Kootingal Kougarettes Pink.
First division will start at 3pm with second division kicking off at 12.30pm.
We’re one of the only teams that have scored against them.
