A single mum was both shocked and overjoyed when constant nagging from a family member led to the discovery she was more than $400,000 richer.
The woman held one of the 10 division-one winning entries across Australia in Saturday’s Lotto draw, each taking home $408,233.51.
Speaking with a NSW Lotteries official to confirm the win, the winner explained how she’d learnt of her life-changing windfall.
“One of my family members wouldn’t leave me alone until I checked my ticket. They’d been telling me all week to check it,” she said.
“I finally got the ticket out and, as soon as they looked at it, they said: ‘You’ve got it!’

“I didn’t quite believe it, so we checked the ticket against the numbers in the local paper – and sure enough, they were all there.”
The news of her win was still sinking in, but the single mum thought she’d use the prize to buy a house – somewhere she and her kids could call their own.
The woman, who wanted to stay anonymous, also won a division five prize, bringing her total windfall to $408,255.96.
She bought her winning ticket at Warialda Newsagency.
Owner Martin Bell said he was thrilled to have sold a division one winning entry.
“I am so pleased that our winner has discovered they are now over $408,000 richer,” he said.
“We had been hoping they would come forward soon, so we are relieved they have been united with their prize and they can start to enjoy it.
“We hope it is the start of many wins for our customers.”
