Doug Crowell, Arthur Yates, Ron Farrell, Col Barton and Peter Boyd are currently in Queensland preparing to play in the National Over 70s Cricket Championships.
Crowell will pad up for a Victorian team while Yates, Farrell, Barton and Boyd will line up for NSW.
They will play Thursday and Friday, then have two days off before playing another two days, and have been training hard over the last few weeks in readiness.
The Tamworth over 50s have also been hitting the nets ahead of their games in Port Macquarie on Saturday September 22 and Armidale the following day.
The over 60s also have a match in Armidale on the Sunday as a prelude to their Northern Conference game against Quirindi in Tamworth on October 7.
They then head to Maitland for the NSW Championships, where they will have a tough task playing in Division 1 against the best over 60 cricketers in NSW.
Phil Constable will meanwhile compete in Brisbane from October 7, to hopefully make the Australian over 50s team to play at the World Cup in Sydney in November.
