“What a waste of time,” she said.
Mrs Boulton, a Craigends Lane resident for 42 years, has made several presentations to council in opposition the 21-unit development, however, council back-flipped on its initial decision to reject the proposal.
“The residents are upset and disappointed that the council hasn’t listened regarding our lifestyle,” she said.
“I guess we just have to put up with it now.”
HOW IT UNFOLDED:
Craigends Place resident Greg Scott said he was not a fan of the development, but understood it was progress in a growing city.
Mr Scott had concerns about banning right-hand turns out of Craigends Lane and what flow-on effects could stem from that decision.
“I think it’s very disappointing and I don’t think as much thought has been given to the effects the decision is going to have on the Calala roundabout,” he said.
He said it wasn’t a problem “95 per cent of the time” to turn right on to the highway.
“It’s not the end of the world, but it’s just transferring the problem.”
While it’s seen as a short-term solution until Goonoo Goonoo Road is upgraded and both lanes are duplicated, Mr Scott said he wasn't aware of a timeline for the longer-term fix.
“If we had a time-frame, that would be different, but we shouldn’t be making decisions on things which might happen,” he said.
The developer behind the housing development on Ainslie Place declined a request for comment.
